So Beyond DOCTYPE: Web Standards, Forward Compatibility, and IE8 was posted. And the Internet went crazy.
I think it’s time for a bit of frivolity, don’t you?
At a tiny company with a website:

Lemur 1: I just downloaded Internet Explorer 7! It’s the future!
Lemur 2: Awesome! Let’s check out our website!

Lemur 1: Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
Lemur 2: It’s broken! Oh no!
Lemur 1: We better call up our web designers! And yell at them!
At the tiny web company:

Lemur 3: Dude, we got an email from that tiny company. They say their site is broken in IE7.
Lemur 4: IE7? Gross!
Lemur 5: Seriously, dude. Tell ‘em the site is fine, it’s their browser that’s broken.
Lemur 4: Yeah, totally. That’ll stick it to Microsoft!
Lemur 3: Yeah! Fight the power!
At the tiny company with a website:

Lemur 1: Oh! The web designers say that our Internet Explorer is broken!
Lemur 2: Oh no! We better write to Microsoft right away! They need to fix this!
Lemur 1: ‘Dear Microsoft…’
Lemur 2: And make sure they get it right this time!
At Microsoft:

Lemur 6: That’s the 11-billionth email we’ve received about IE7 and websites!
Lemur 7: We’ve got to do something!
Lemur 8: But what can we do?
Lemurs: *thinking*
Lemurs: *thinking*
Lemurs: *thinking*
Lemur 6: <meta http-equiv=“X-UA-Compatible” content=“edge” />?
Lemur 7: Seriously?
Lemur 6: Why not?
Lemur 7: What do you guys think?
Lemurs: *shrug*
Lemur 8: Eh, let’s give it a shot.
Lemur 6: Awesome. Can I write about it to tell the Internet?
Lemur 8: Yeah, we better tell ‘em. Go ahead.
Lemur 6: Awesome! Hey, can I have a raise too?
Lemur 8: No.
Lemur 6: Aw nuts.
At A List Apart :

Lemur 9: Dude, check this out.
Lemur 10: Dude!
Lemur 9: Should we post it?
Lemur 10: Dude!
Lemur 11: It’s been a few weeks since we’ve had an Internet riot. Let’s go for it.
Lemur 10: Dude!
Lemur 9: Excellent.
Lemur 10: Dude!
At computer screens across the globe:

Lemurs: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Lemur 12: Actually, you kno—
Lemurs: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Lemur 13: But—
Lemurs: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

By Eric Meyer | Jan 24, 05:01 PM
OMG ROFL! I’m so glad this is the first site I went to this morning.
By Andrea | Jan 24, 05:23 PM
Wow, the blue hat is just too much. I can’t help but laugh every time I scroll back up and look at it. The internet riot is also a goodly amount of funny, just a little below the blue hat lemur.
If I wore a hat I’d take it off to you, as is you’ll have to settle for a thanks for the good laugh.
By Ben | Jan 24, 05:27 PM
Very funny – you missed a trick – I thought ALA stood for “A Lemur Apart”? ;-)

Nice :)
By Dean Hachamovitch | Jan 24, 10:00 PM
Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant. And look, you even got Dean Hachamovitch to agree. I’m impressed!
I think you might have hit on a good diplomacy tactic for future advocacy with Microsoft.
Bring in the blue beanied lemurs!
